Update 1 · Warrior Saga meta

Anime Expeditions Tier List

An honest release-meta ranking. We score damage, range, support value, and boss utility — not just headline DPS — so you can decide who deserves your Trait Crystals.

Tier list

Ordered within each tier from strongest to weakest.

S

S — Meta Defining

Defines the meta or replaces the rest of the roster.

  • Shadow (Divine)

Compresses carry damage, summons, Stun, Rewind and team amplification in one slot.

  • Puppet (Telekinetic)

Best bossing support — Puppet Mark adds 20% incoming damage to the strongest enemy.

  • Crimson (Brother)

Cheapest S-tier carry with delayed Crimson Explosions for both wave clear and boss pushes.

  • Crow (Black Fire)

Immediate carry with 475+ base DPS, three placements and a shield-shred niche.

  • 8th Sword (Berserk)

Strongest late-game hypercarry — kill-dependent ramp caps at +100% damage.

  • Flame Emperor (Reincarnate)

Self-contained wave clear and Burn synergies; the Mythic that makes Burn teams work.

  • Cursed Immortal (Black Sun)

Mobile lane sweeper with one-second AoE ticks and high-mode scaling.

  • Cursed Student (True Love)

Scales off two units at once via Cursed Mimicry when paired with a real carry.

  • Forbidden Teacher

Cheap Magical buffer (+5% per upgrade) — direct amp for every Magical carry.

  • Ramen Guy

Mandatory farm unit (+50% Yen) for Infinite and long modes.

  • Toy Maker

Persistent blockers on every lane he covers; best lane-control unit in the game.

  • Prodigy (Rage)

New Update 1 Secret DPS — Scholar’s Trial questline, top-tier for hard-mode and Expedition 4.

A

A — Endgame Viable

Strong enough for endgame content with a clear specialty.

  • Elf Mage (Unleashed)

Cycles line, circle and full-area spells with growing Arcane follow-ups.

  • Reaper (Released)

Solid physical carry, stronger in single-target boss windows.

  • Lady Giant (Envy)

Terra knockback carry with strong lane clear.

  • String Demon (Awakened)

String control locks enemies in place for follow-up burst.

  • Hollow (Blaze)

Burn-applying physical DPS that excels with Flame Emperor.

  • Razorjaw (Hunter)

Reliable physical carry and progression carry for early Story.

  • Dark Mage (Sovereign)

Hydro magical DPS with Freeze — strong but expensive to ramp.

  • Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1)

Cursed Speech utility DPS that pairs well with Magical teams.

  • The Hero

Single-target burst specialist — great for boss skips.

  • True Saint (Holy)

Healing / buff support, valuable in long modes.

  • Stone Alchemist

Cheap economy alternative to Ramen Guy in Epic-rarity teams.

B

B — Story Capable

Clears Story and most Challenges; weaker in Infinite / Raids.

  • Greed

Absorb sustain makes Greed viable in long fights.

  • Ice Queen

Freeze support DPS, solid in early Story.

  • Scissor

Bleed-based DPS, depends on follow-up setup.

  • Water Princess

AoE magical DPS, weaker single-target ceiling.

C

C — Niche

Viable in narrow comps or very early Story.

  • Bounty Hunter

Mid-tier physical DPS — situation needs a real carry.

  • Corps Captain

Physical DPS, loses value at high tiers.

  • Demon Cyborg

Burn specialist, outclassed by Flame Emperor.

  • Ice Mage

Freeze DPS, weaker than Ice Queen overall.

  • Nen Hunter

    Physical burst with long cooldowns.

D

D — Outclassed

Replaced by Epic / Mythic alternatives for the same role.

  • Curly Brow

Burn DPS, outclassed by Epic-rarity alternatives.

  • Kid Assassin

    Lightning DPS, narrow use cases.

  • Reishi Archer

    Light magical DPS, weak AoE.

  • Rubber Boy

    Knockback DPS, low single-target output.

E

E — Skip

Invest resources elsewhere unless you are collecting for fun.

  • Carrot

Outclassed base form; superseded by Carrot (Unleashed) and other Gale carries.

  • Thunder Shinobi

Low impact DPS outside specific Storm setups.

Ranking criteria

Rankings weigh (1) base DPS and damage type, (2) range and placement count, (3) utility — buffs, debuffs, summons, economy — and (4) cost-to-ramp. A unit that wins only in Infinite mode ranks below a unit that contributes in Story, Challenges, Raids and Infinite.

Method

Tiers are revisited after every major patch. Patch notes and the release meta inform the order within each tier.
